How does the LudiCreations Loyalty Deposit work?

Note: If this answer does not cover your question, please contact us via the KS messaging system: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ludicreations/so-youve-been-eaten/messages/new?message%5Bto%5D=ludicreations

The Loyalty Discount is something we did during our Mr. Cabbagehead’s Garden returns! campaign. It worked well, and we are extending our trial of this new method of rewarding repeat backers.

Basically, we give you $1 off per campaign you have backed in the past!

Here are the basics:

  • You must have backed the the So, You’ve Been Eaten. campaign on Kickstarter before it ends.

  • You must have backed for the Collector Edition pledge level. We wish we could it for everyone, but this is where we can both afford it and make the most impact for loyal backers.

  • A maximum of $5 in total discount will be applied.

  • The discount can be used as credit within Backerkit, to cover shipping costs and/or add-ons.

  • The discount will appear automatically in your Backerkit account when we apply it, after surveys have been sent.

The above should be self-explanatory, but here’s some more detail:

  • The discount is only valid for backers of this campaign that have backed at the Collector Edition pledge level by the end of the campaign. You could back for $1 and upgrade before the end of the campaign and therefore still be eligible. Unfortunately, we can not do the same discount for anyone who later upgrades their pledge level (or pre-orders the Collector Edition) after the end of the campaign. This is both practical (we can only assign this discount en masse once), and in principle fair to those who support us earlier.

  • The credit can not be redeemed as cash. It can be used to pay for add-ons (all of them, including games like On the Underground, Crisis, Mr. Cabbagehead’s Garden, etc.) and shipping. Basically for anything that will be charged via Backerkit. Unfortunately KS does not have this functionality.

  • The credit will remain in your Backerkit cart until you use it, or until we close down SYBE’s Backerkit integration. We typically leave them up for months. There will be a backer update giving advance notice to any such thing happening - typically when we run out of stock or run another campaign.

  • We again chose to do this without limitation as to how far in the past you backed a campaign - this may change if we do this again. We may also limit it to newsletter subscribers. Or to backers of a specific campaign. Hey, it’s free money.

  • Yes, new-to-LC backers backing this campaign are not included in this. But, if you are new and we continue to do this, you would also receive a $1 discount in a future LudiCreations campaign, for having backed SYBE.

  • We also know that $1 (per campaign, to a maximum of $5) may not seem like a lot, but it is, for us, when you consider the number of potential backers. And in any case, it is what we can do for now.

  • We realize that the above may not cover everything, and we are happy to answer any questions. You can leave a comment, but you will probably get a quicker response (during European daylight hours) by contacting us via the KS messaging system.

What about add-ons?

Note: If this answer does not cover your question, please contact us via the KS messaging system: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ludicreations/so-youve-been-eaten/messages/new?message%5Bto%5D=ludicreations

We will have the set of acrylic Crystals and wooden Bacteria available as a $9 add-on. We will also have the Dyspepto-Beastmol mini-expansion as a $5 add-on.

This is so that backers of the basic edition can still get those if they regret not backing the Premium edition.

Unfortunately, due to the nature of its costs, the custom Replication token (the custom-cut, screen-printed Miner meeple) is not going to be available as an add-on.

I have a problem with my Kickstarter pledge, the Backerkit platform, or the game itself. How do I contact you?

Please send all questions via the KS messaging system:

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ludicreations/so-youve-been-eaten/messages/new?message%5Bto%5D=ludicreations

We can not deal with individual issues through the KS comments, as they are easily buried under other comments, and we can not ask you for your personal information in a public forum. In addition we are not able to track the progress of your enquiry.

Sending the same message via many different methods like our home page, Facebook page, BGG profile, etc. only creates confusion. Please just send us one message, via the KS messaging system.

I want to back the game, but my country does not appear when I click on the pledge levels. How do I support the game?

Note: If this answer does not cover your question, please contact us via the KS messaging system: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ludicreations/so-youve-been-eaten/messages/new?message%5Bto%5D=ludicreations

Unfortunately, due to many reasons, we are not able to send games outside of these territories. Some backers have found it useful to use services that allow you to have a mailbox in the USA and Europe. Please keep in mind that we can not be responsible for the level of service any third-party services may or may not provide.

Will the game be available in other languages?

Note: If this answer does not cover your question, please contact us via the KS messaging system: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ludicreations/so-youve-been-eaten/messages/new?message%5Bto%5D=ludicreations

At the moment, we have plans to produce a German-language compatibility pack, which will be available as an add-on for $5-$9, depending on costs. If we can offer a fully-localized German edition, we will. This will depend on both the overall success of the campaign, and the number of german-speaking backers that would like such an edition.

We are in discussions with a number of potential co-publishers around the world. If and when a plan is made for a localized edition, we will include it in a backer update.

You are welcome to translate the rulebook content as an unofficial translation (marking it as such), but regrettably, we are not able to provide graphics or templates.

I would like to support the game, but I am not able to right now. Can I do it later?

Note: If this answer does not cover your question, please contact us via the KS messaging system: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ludicreations/so-youve-been-eaten/messages/new?message%5Bto%5D=ludicreations

Yes. Back the campaign at the $1 pledge level, and you will be able to access the pledge manager.

Is there an opportunity for retailers to pledge for the game?

Note: If this answer does not cover your question, please contact us via the KS messaging system: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ludicreations/so-youve-been-eaten/messages/new?message%5Bto%5D=ludicreations

Yes. Please see the “Retailers” section of the campaign page.

Can I organize a group buy?

Note: If this answer does not cover your question, please contact us via the KS messaging system: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ludicreations/so-youve-been-eaten/messages/new?message%5Bto%5D=ludicreations

We are already subsidizing shipping costs enough that a group buy would not save money.

In addition a bigger package would also be more easily damaged, and in cases outside of the EU or USA, attract the attention of customs officials.

You could potentially ask your local (non-online-only) store to make a retail pledge, but that would still involve shipping costs - and there are limits to what retailers can buy.

What about Brexit?

Note: If this answer does not cover your question, please contact us via the KS messaging system: https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ludicreations/so-youve-been-eaten/messages/new?message%5Bto%5D=ludicreations

Brexit is now a reality. We commit to our UK-based backers that you will not have to pay any import VAT. We take care of that for you when we import the games into the UK ourselves.

BackerKit FAQ

What is BackerKit?

BackerKit is a service that crowdfunded project creators use to keep track of hundreds to tens of thousands of backers—from shipping details, pledge levels, preferences and quantities, whether they have paid or had their card declined, special notes, and everything in between!

The BackerKit software and support team is independent from the campaign’s project team—BackerKit does not handle the actual reward shipping. For more information about the preparation or delivery status of your rewards, please check the project's updates page.

How does BackerKit work?

After the campaign ends, the project creator will send you an email with a unique link to your survey. You can check out a walkthrough of the process here.

I never received my invitation. How do I complete the survey?

The most common reasons for not receiving a survey email is that you may be checking an email inbox different from the email address you used to sign up with Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account, or it may be caught in your spam filter.

Confirm that the email address you are searching matches the email address tied to your Kickstarter, Indiegogo, or Tilt Pro account. If that doesn’t work, then try checking your spam, junk or promotions folders. You can also search for "backerkit” in your inbox.

To resend the survey to yourself, visit the project page and input the email address associated with your Kickstarter, Indiegogo or Tilt Pro account.

How do I update my shipping address?

BackerKit allows you to update your shipping address until the shipping addresses are locked by the project creator. To update your address, go back to your BackerKit survey by inputting your email here.

When will my order be shipped, charged or locked?

That is handled directly by the project creator. BackerKit functions independently of the project itself, so we do not have control of their physical shipping timeline. If you want to check on the project’s status, we recommend reading over the project's updates page.

I completed the survey, but haven't received my rewards yet. When will they arrive?

As BackerKit does not actually handle any rewards or shipping, the best way to stay updated on the shipping timeline would be to check out the project's updates page.
